Sporterized Romanian Contract Ceskoslovenska Zbrojovka As Brno VZ24
The VZ24 is a Czech-built rifle based off the German Gewehr 98 / 98 Mauser. The VZ is short for the Czech word "vzor" which means model. The very first VZ24's were made in 1924 and continued throughout WWII. The VZ24 saw adoption by the Czech military and saw huge commercial success with hundreds of thousands of exports across the globe. Romania was one of the buyers of these rifles.
The serial number of this VZ24 is part of the 2nd of 3 contracts from Romania. It was likely made in 1939-1940 at the Slovakian factory (Považská Bystrica). It is in very good condition, possesses an intact King Carol II crest, and is chambered in 8mm Mauser. It was sporterized postwar including the bolt and front sight and possibly other parts. It comes with a case.
